At this link is a photo of one of the fires in San Diego County - I'm not sure where the photo came from as a friend sent it to me.
The lighted community here, at the foot of the hills, is actually El Cajon Valley - an eastern suburb of San Diego. We are at the far end of the valley in the lowest foothills. We are somewhere between the fire at the lowest elevation - sort of in the middle of the photo, and the one at the upper right.

Judy, that is absolutely chilling! I am so glad that you got out of there during the fire, because it could have come your way so easily.
Are things pretty much back to normal yet? I'll bet you never want to clean up any more ash ever again in your life. :)
