Read Scott's book on this site and you will be well informed, and you will realize why you don't have to worry about the actual 'spur'.

'Heel spur' is a term misleadingly used to denote plantar fasciitis. There is sometimes a bony protrusion (e.g. 'spur') but it is not the spur that causes the pain, but the inflammation of the plantar fascia, the structure that supports the foot. You will find full descriptions (with pictures) of the condition, and treatments for it, in the heel pain book. (Just click on the blue words here.)
