fasciitis vs fasciosis

Posted by Jackie H on 1/19/04 at 15:07 (142381)

What is the difference between plantar fasciitis and fasciosis?
How do I know which I have? My doctor has not mentioned fasciosis to me
I just saw it on the internet.

Thank you for your response.

Jackie --

I am not a doctor, but I think 'fasciitis' means the tissue is inflamed, and 'fasciosis' means the tissue has been degraded or deteriorated. I've heard that people who have fasciitis for a longer period of time end up with fasciosis due to the constant damage and repair process and its effect on the tissue. Perhaps the doctors can explain it better.
