heel pain

Posted by Anthony Salomone on 2/13/04 at 07:57 (144244)

I have a calcium deposit on the back of one heel where the achilles tendon attaches to the heel and it is incredibility painful. (I was told it was not a heel spur) I have heard of an ultra sound technique for breaking up the calcium? I have seen both podiatrist and orthopedic and was told they could operate, detach the tendon, scrape off the calcium and put me in a cast or I could live with it. They did not know of an ultra sound technique.
I have lived with it for a couple of years but now I am getting some pain at the top of my iliac crest (opposite hip) when I run and I think it is associated with my heel pain.

I am looking for options besides an operation.
