best way to clean orthotics?

Posted by Connie A. on 2/17/04 at 10:58 (144469)

What is the best way to wash/clean orthotics when they start to get smelly? Since last August, I have had rigid orthotics which have a thin, softer foam covering on top, glued to the rigid plastic bottom that extends up to the ball of my foot. I wouldn't want the two parts to come apart. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I can't get advice from the people who made them, unfortunately. (otherwise, I would ask them!)

You should be able to just use soap and cold water. That should do just fine. I have people that put Shower to Shower or baby powder on them too.

I clean mine with a damp washcloth and a bath soap using light rubbing.
