To the doctors about expectationsPosted by Buck T. on 3/22/04 at 11:06 (147505)
Dear sirs: If there's still pain after pf release a year later, is this usually as good as results get? Can it sometimes take longer than a year to get best results? Also, if there's no nerve damage, can ESWT be used to treat pain in insertional area? Don't always have firs step pain, more like pain after walking some. Thanks for helping all of us.

Things can improve but a year is long enough to wait. ESWT can treat insertional pain, working somewhat better when classical first step symptoms exist. I would look closely at the orthotic to make sure it is adequate particularly if pain accumulates with more walking.

Thanks Dr. Ed. I just had different orthotics made using the correct procedure. So, I am giving them a chance. Old orthotics made wrong way -- by standing and making impressions on paper ink-pad like material. New ones made by having foot casted in correct position. You've really helped inform me. Take care,
