Hammer ToesPosted by Rob S. on 4/10/04 at 20:33 (148674)
Should I have surgery to straighten my toes out?
or is there something else to do?

If you are having pain with most shoes or chronic corns then repair of hammer toe deformity is the procedure to go with

According to the Wharton's Stretch Book, hammer toes can be caused by poorly fitting shoes or shortened tendons and muscles in the top of the foot, which draw the foot up. They recommend a stretching regimen for the lower legs, ankles and feet, which are active isolated stretches. I would try that before considering surgery.

There are many excellent treatment for thick toe nails that are caused by fungus, ie lamisil, penlac, carmol 40% gel.
