question about collapes arches.

Posted by lauriel on 5/10/04 at 14:51 (150339)

I dont know if this the correct term. My mom injured her foot aabout 3 months ago. she thinks she did it on the treadmill. her ankle wnet all swollen and she is in constant pain. she went to a pod the said her arched collapesd. I thought collapsed arches wer flat feet. She said you can see her ankle like it really rolling over to the inside.

Does this sound right? and he said there is no cure except for surgery.

Thanks

The posterior tendon is the one that is usually injured when the arch collapsed. Depending the damage of this tendon will determine if surgery is indicated. What treatment have been offered so far. Has an MRI been ordered for complete evaluation?

Dr, Z, she has had no treatment, just getting orthodics. They did x-rays to confirm nothing broken and and Dr said it will probably never heal. It is still swollen and when she walks it bruises. This just doesnt sound right.

What would and MRI show?

Thanks
