new orthotics

Posted by joe on 5/18/04 at 21:29 (150801)

I've just recently got my first othotics for plantar fasc. pain. I wore them for a few days, for a few hours, but they hurt like hell in my arches. I feel as if I've got a rock under each arch. Is this normal? How long can I expect this kind of discomfort? I'm willing to go about three weeks, then, who knows what??
Thanks in advance, joc

In most cases, a normal break in period is required. It also makes a difference as to what type of material is used. The harder plastic material will seem just that...hard. Other conditions of the foot must be taken in consideration as well. You may need just a little more cushion added.

I would back off on the time that you are wearing them. Even if it means only wearing them thirty minutes a day for a couple of days.
