treatment that worked for me, for arch painPosted by Will R. on 5/29/04 at 14:43 (151560)
I checked this site because a friend of mine in Miami overstrained her left leg in a fall, and has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. I had significant arch pain in both feet in 1998. My arches have always been relatively flat, and I do running as exercise. I had taken prescription ibuprofen, but it didn't help (apparently not enough medication actually gets focused in the feet). The podiatrist suggested a cortisone shot at the site of the pain. I had previously had a successful cortisone injection treatment of an inflamation in one shoulder joint via a different physician, so I chose that treatment for my feet. One shot in each foot took care of the problem, and the doctor impressed upon me the importance of always using arch supports and not walking barefoot. I always use commercial arch supports in my shoes, and I've never had the problem since then.
