Injections to reduce scar tissue?

Posted by Buck T. on 5/31/04 at 19:11 (151649)

Dear doctors and others: Had a pf release about 12 months ago. At about six months post surgery had injections which reduced scar tissue and resulting pain. Now I have same type of pain I think in one specific area around incision. Would another injection help or is it too far past surgery? Will see POD in a month and will ask him. But input in past most helpful.

Sincerely, Buck

How about physical therapy. Massage. Ionophoresis are some of the possible treatment for scar tissue at the incision.

Thanks Dr. Z. That makes sense. Any tips on how to massage. Should I rub the sore area pretty hard. Or, would you recommend massaging around it. Also, I don't know what ionophoresis is. How about a brief description. Thank you.

Sincerely, Buck

Ionophoresis is a device that distributes a local steriod into the tissue via an electric current.

Thanks Dr. Z. How long after ESWT is it safe to do this?
