Using ionophoresis after ESWT?

Posted by Buck T. on 6/03/04 at 16:00 (151918)

Dear doctors and others: When is it safe to try ionophoresis after ESWT?

Sincerely, Buck

Iontophoresis uses an anti-inflammatory so the 'by the book' answer is not for 12 weeks after ESWT although evidence in this is somewhat limited and I have found that it is okay to start any time of anti-inflammatories about 6 weeks after ESWT without any consequence. This is an area you are likely to find disagreement on.

I agree with Dr. Ed. 6-8 weeks is ok so long as you have significant pain..

Thanks Dr. Ed and Dr. Z. Your information helps many of us when we get into the doctors office. You help us to communicate with the doctor about this very difficult problem. Your help to us here helps him/her there to help us. Sincerely,
