Dr ED Tranverse friction massage for Tarsal Tunnel?

Posted by John Martello on 6/07/04 at 18:54 (152283)

Dr DAvis,

Can transverse friction massage help manage the pain with tarsal tunnel syndrome or can this aggravate the condition? I saw a guy named John that was cured with this which he had PF.

Thanks John Martello

i think any massage would only aggravate TTS.

I have to agree with you because with TTS your talking about compression of a nerve. It's aggravated already. I think more friction would cause you to pass out from pain.

John:
The idea of placing any type of strong pressure to the tarsal tunnel, since it contains a major nerve does not sound like a good idea. I believe that we did have a poster who once mentioned some help -- my assumption is that the practitioner would have to release tissues in proximity to the tunnel while avoiding direct pressure which is a difficult proposition.
