Has any one heard of just cutting the nerve once it branches of at the ankle?Posted by jeffery on 6/08/04 at 18:52 (152456)
Let me see if I could explain this any better. My pain is strictly localized to the bottom of my heel towards the inside of my heel. The nerve that Leeds down into the inside of your ankle branches off into 2 individual nerves. Where the nerve branches to the heel of my foot is right wear my pain is.
I had TTS surgery 3 weeks ago and my doctor said the nerve that leeds into my heel was totally flattened. Why has this happened?
Once the nerve branches can you cut the one leading into your ankle? Would I still be able to walk? Is there a chance that this would relieve my pain?
This is an extreme alternative but extreme actions are appropriate for extreme circumstances.?
I have had this pain in my foot for 5 years and it is so bad I can't spend more than a few minutes on my feet and the pressure and stabbing pains are so intense I have to sit. I have to throw the Frisbee to my dog on my knees. I have tried every possible treatment; seen 7 doctors, 8 physical therapists. I have no life; I am a prisoner in my own body.
I am so desperate sometimes I think about popping 7-9 vicodin and cutting it myself, it is right under my skin. I know I would be hospitalized but there would be no feeling left in my heel and no more pain.?

Jeffery - it can take quite a while to see how much you will benefit from your surgery. 3 weeks is not enough time to evaluate it. You surgeon must have told you that it will take time to determine how successful the surgery has been.

Jeffrey, they wont cut any nerve, at least that was what my Dr told me. I had TTS surgery 12/02. It took me months to recover.
Hang in there

Jeffery, Talk to your best foot doctor surgeon in your area, ask about a Sural nerve neurectomy. Or a possible neuroma in that area.??????? good luck
