Bone Spur/Heel Spur/ Haglund's??Posted by Jeff R on 6/11/04 at 14:56 (152764)
I'm scheduled for surgery for next Wednesday on what my Pod. calls posterior superior calcaneal spur. He is describing repair of the achilles tendon for the area damaged by local trauma from the posterior superior calcaneal spur. In addition resect the spur. Post opertive to be six to 12 weeks of non-weight bearing ia a cast.
Here is my question, does 6 to 12 weeks in a cast seem normal for this? Also he tells me I cannot go back to work for at least 6 weeks?
This seems a little to long for this problem and procedure.

Cast is usually ten weeks plus. Back to work six weeks or maybe longer depending on the type of work you do

Thanks for the response. The more I talk to people the more I find out that, the recovery time is normal for surgery when they have to detach the tendon. So I guess I have to live with it.
