heel painPosted by john t on 7/19/04 at 05:36 (155804)
Really need some advice and solution - thanks
In 6 weeks will be trekking up Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. I'm fit, jog 25/30 miles a week and have done so +/- for last 25 years & have trekked in Andes & Himalayas. As part of a final training build-up did 19 mile walk yesterday. Boots and socks are top of the range, well fitting and worn in. The last 3 miles saw increasing heel discomfort and then felt like pin was sticking into it or I had a stone in my boot etc. It did'nt stop me walking but was increasingly, very uncomfortable. At end of walk, after a 10minute rest the pain went away even when I stood on it and has not returned althogh today I can feel that there had been agrivation in that area and its a little sore. Main concern is the upcoming trek which is around 20miles (40km) along and up to 19500ft and then 20miles back and am worried this reoccurring. ..............John

Obtain a thorough biomechanical exam from a specialist to see how you can best protect yourself.
