Doctors - Please help me interpret these MRI notes

Posted by Darlene on 7/23/04 at 11:56 (156121)

I had an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Their machine showed much more than the MRI I had in Buffalo. Please help me to understand what these notes mean:
1. No inflammatory synovitis
2. MP joint and IP joint - what are these?
3. images through the tarsal tunnel show an accessory muscle, reflecting an enlarged accessory plantaris muscle localized posterior to the posterior tibial neurovascular bundle, but without encasement
4. accessory muscle in the tarsal tunnel in the plantaris distribution, abutting without displacing the posterior tibial neurovascular bundle

Please help me to understand this.

Thank you.

The MRI is stating that you have an extra muscle (one that usually is not there) that may be placing pressure on the area around the posterior tibial nerve (involved in TTS).
