Ruptured Plantar Fasciaitis

Posted by Brenda F. on 7/25/04 at 13:04 (156233)

I have a completely ruptured P.F. in my left foot. It was discovered last December when I went for a plantar fasciotomy. This has caused me to have to quit my job as an operating room nurse. Do you have any suggestions for what I can do? I am in pain all of the time. Are there any P.F. specialists in the country who you are aware of? Thanks

Brenda:
This is not uncommon and is akin to getting a plantar fascial release. Something that can heal slowly. An orthotic is needed to offer support that is missing from the plantar fascia. The fascia can often grow back together. Also physical therapy to reduce the amount of dscat tissue that can occur at the rupture site can be helpful.
