metatarsal bar-It won't hurt pf-will it?

Posted by m j schaefer on 7/30/04 at 07:13 (156506)

I had th met bar put on both shoes wednesday and after an hour or 2 i could feel my achilles tendon being stretched an the muscles in my legs felt weird and my heels also have more pressure, i guess thats where the weight redistributes. My question is i have pf and tarsal tunnel syndrome, putting my feet in this upward position shouldn't affect either conditions, should it? I till have my powersteps on inside my shoes and will this new position just take time for my body to get used to, simular to adjusting to orthotics? Thanks

I have OCCASIONALLY seen metatarsal bars aggravate PF but they generally do so in individuals with tight heel cords. If you are getting PT, ask the therapist to check the heel cords (achilles tendons) and make sure they are not too tight. If they are, then stretching to loosen them is needed.
