Occasional heel pain

Posted by carrie on 7/30/04 at 12:35 (156561)

Hi, I've been reading alot about PF and not sure if that is what is going on. I am experiencing occasional pain on the bottom of my left heel (like I've stepped on something or have a big bruise). It comes and goes and never happens first thing in the morning. I am female, age 46, run 15-20 miles per week and play about 3 tennis matches a week as well. I am about 170 lbs and 5'10', so I could stand to lose 10-15 lbs. Anyhow, I am not sure why I get this pain on one foot and it only lasts a few hours at a time. Should I see a podiatrist or some other specialist? By the way, I've been using ice, ibuprofen and easing up (a little) on my activity. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

A good biomechanical workup by a podiatrist may be a good idea as plantar fasciitis is most easily taken care of in the incipient stages.
