Can Morton's neuroma surgery make tarsal tunnel worse?

Posted by Darlene on 7/30/04 at 16:12 (156597)

I have surgery scheduled for August 13th to remove the nerve between my 3rd and 4th met heads.
My questions are:
1. Could this aggravate tts? Is there any kind of constriction devices used around the ankle area during this surgery?
2. Does neuroma surgery normally involve swelling only around the surgery site or could it cause swelling further up?

Thank you.

Darlene

Darlene:
Your doctor could use an ankle tourniqet for neuroma surgery -- need to ask him. If you have TTS, I would probably avoid use of an ankle tourniquet. Neuroma surgery should not cause swelling far beyond the surgical area.
