Bilateral Neuroma Surgery ?

Posted by HilaryG on 7/31/04 at 19:28 (156674)

I am considering having my neuromas removed -- I have 2 on 1 foot and 1 on the other. Is there any possibility of having neuroma surgery on both feet at once? Is that ever done? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Hilary

Hilary:
We tend to favor surgery on one foot at a time particularly on larger procedures so we minimize incapacity. Although, removal of neuromas is generally not a procedure that should slow you down very much so it would be worthwhile to do both at the same time. That way you will only get one trip to the OR, one recuperation period and if you need PT, only one set of trips to the physical therapist.
