Fitting orthotics to shoesPosted by Buck T. on 8/07/04 at 20:01 (157179)
I wear the SAS and Brooks shoes because my orthotics fit better in them. But even so, my little toes were being pinched.
I bought a cheap shoe stretcher and used it for three days. It can be adjusted to stretch the areas needed. Since my SAS shoes are leather, I lightly wetted the leather to help it stretch. Or, you can go to a shoe shop and it will stretch your shoes.
In addition, my wife suggested I loosen the shoe strings at the bottom and tighten the top ones. This also provides more room for orthtoics.
I cut the bottom of the shoes as described in Scotts book and that was the key to flexibility. Take care, Buck
