latral outer foot pain.Posted by Sylvie, B on 8/11/04 at 12:26 (157538)
I am runner , I have had foot assessments done, plantars fasciitis with spurs and bunnions , orthotics and regular stretching of these ailements have releaved the pain to those areas , as long as I continue. I ran a 21k run , and most of my pain was on the lateral aspect of my foot , it was a ache that was getting worse to the point when I finished It was acute and radiate to the medial aspect of my foot. The pain remains, as soon as I attempt to run it becomes acute. Help!!!!!!!! My biggest worry is I am in training for a full marathon in september.............What is your recommendation. Another problem is I leave in a area where no foot specialist or sports medicine specialist are available.....the nearest area is 10-12hrs away.

Patients with plantar fasciitis often compensate by rolling (either conciously or subconciously) to the outsides of their feet. It sounds like you may need a motion control type training shoe eg. Brooks Ariel, New Balance 1122. They may feel a bit heavier than what you are used to but if you can use them to protect your feet for training then you can drop down to the lighter, less protective shoes for the races. Where do you live?
