Heel spurs/ruptured achilles tendon?Posted by Angela RJ on 8/11/04 at 20:40 (157618)
Last year a ruptured my achilles tendon. I went to physical therapy and everthing. Now because of the summer I try and wear the most comfortable shoes possible for summer(flip-flops). I also have very flat feet, my heel is killing me. I try and walk on the front of my foot, but because of my previous injury, I am unable to stand on my toes. If I tried to stand on my tip toes on the injured foot there is an instant 'Charlie horse'. Does it sound as if I may have heel spurs?

How was the ruptured achilles tendon treated -- surgically or via casting?
One thing to look out for is if the tendon healed back shorter. If so, it often will cause pain on the bottom of the foot/heel. Stretching and/or night splints can often help if that scenario has occurred.

Thank you for responding doctor. I had to wear a cast for six weeks, then about six weeks of physical therapy.
