DVT after surgery???Posted by Mary D. on 9/11/04 at 02:43 (159720)
6 1/2 weeks post op. Had partial release of PF and heel spur removal. 3 weeks in cast. Still have swelling and discoloration if I sit for more than an hour or two. Foot stays reddish purple, which gets worse the longer I sit with feet dangling. Sometimes the foot feels cold to the touch. Incision site looks fine.(endoscopic) Had a dopplar ultrasound this week to rule out bloodclot (negative) and an x-ray to look for fracture (also negative) I'm still not putting any weight on this foot. Sometimes swelling extends all the way to my knee. Scheduled to start physical therapy next week. Do you think this will help, or cause more harm?
The only time it feels half way normal is if I sit in recliner and elevate it. Any suggestions???

Get to your doc ASAP. It can be something simple like a tight cast but the cast needs to come off to look for blood clots, RSD...
