Health Insurance QuestionPosted by Richard, C.Ped on 10/11/04 at 08:26 (161269)
I am looking (as well as everyone else) for health insurance that does not cost an arm and a leg each month.
I need input from small business owners or others that have to purchase their own insurance not provided by a larger company.

Depending on your need for employee coverage -- look into a PEO (Professional Employer Organization). They take large numbers of small businesses together to negotioate favorable insurance rates.

Do you have your own business? Have you considered setting up a medical reimbursement plan? Basically this is a way to set up a plan where all insurance costs and medical expenses are run through your Schedule C so you're saving self employment tax on the costs (as opposed to taking them as a 100% deduction on the front of your return). Just wondering - the premiums are still high no matter what you do but this is a way of saving taxes in addition to paying the medical costs. Speak to your accountant
