facia thicknessPosted by jeannie m on 10/21/04 at 19:22 (161935)
Does the thickness of the plantar f. have anything to do with indication of recovery rate of p.f. ? Is there better results with people with less thickness when having had e.s.w.t. ? Thanks!

Very good point. We generally correlate the abnormal thickness of the plantar fascia with 'diseased' tissue. Normal thickness is averages about 3.5 mm. It is actually possible to do diagnostic ultrasound 12 to 16 weeks post treatment with ESWT and see decreased thickness of the plantar fascia.
