slow healing bunion surgery

Posted by Kate on 11/20/04 at 09:45 (164408)

My surgery was 5 weeks ago and I have an open wound, without drainage, mild swelling and pins and needles in my bunion and big toe. I can walk pretty well but the ball of my foot is still too swollen to put flat. The cultures, x2, don't show any bacteria. Is it a reaction to the pin which is stainless steel? Any thoughts?

Time to consider taking the pin out. You are very close anyway. My advice depends on the x-ray, depth of wound, pain, getting worse etc. I am sure you doctor is taking all of these into account and is guilding you
