After 3 doctors, I still have bad pain in the base of the toes

Posted by kenduz on 11/26/04 at 10:21 (164744)

The first Podiatrist said it was metatarsal support and made inserts/supports.
The second said it was a neuroma and gave me a series of injections to kill the pain and nerve.
I went to my orthopedic surgeon who had done acl surgery 2 years earlier, he said my foot was crooked, and gave me a cortisone shot.
I went to a foot orthopedic surgeon and he said my ligaments had been damaged/stretched and wants to do surgery, (of course), and drill into my bone to pull the joint back into place.
Are there any doctors out there who can help with this pain, or is everyone just practicing?

If the joint is dislocated ( foot orthopedic diagnosis) then surgery may have to be done. When the joint is dislocated it places too much weight on the metatarsals and thus causes pain. The x-ray should confirm this dislocation. Ask the foot orthopedic doctor to show you the x-ray and review it with you. This sounds like what is causing your problem
