X-ray informationPosted by Cyndi on 11/27/04 at 15:58 (164770)
Can you tell from an X-ray if you have fallen arches and need orthodics?

Cyndi, your podiatrist should be able to tell just by looking at you standing and walking. If your arches have fallen your foot will turn in visibly at the ankle joint. A family member would be able to see it if you asked them to look.
I'm not saying this would be a firm and accurate diagnosis of a foot problem - only that it's obvious, and doesn't require Xrays to determine it.

There are specific x-ray views with measurements that can describe a flat foot. Clinical examination with weight bearing is the first phase and in most cases the only evaluation needed to diagnosis Pes Planus- flat feet

Thanks Julie and DR Z for your info.
I am having my orthos re-made again since they are so uncomfortable, I just wondered if I really needed them. I tried on a NAOT clog and it felt pretty good, but was $100.00.
