Plantas fasciitis and high esrPosted by HayleyE on 2/13/05 at 01:27 (168954)
I have had Plantar fasciitis for about 3 months, and am also having tests for a high ESR which has been ongoing for nearly 12 months. My question is does Plantar fasciitie raise your ESR. Thanks

ESR is a measure of inflammation in your body. It is not specific for location or cause. So,pf can raise your esr.

As a general rule, plantar fasciitis itself will rarely cause an elevation of the ESR. Most studies have shown that plantar faciitis is not actually an inflammation of the fascia, but is a fasciosis or thickening of the fascia. If there is another condition such as an arthritic condition causing the faciitis/fasciosis, then the ESR can be elevated. As per Dr. Wishnie, ESR is a very non specific test and must be clinically correlated. But ESR should not be elevated with 'classic' heel pain syndrome.

I have been told I am suffering from plantas faciitis.I have been given several stretching exercises which help.I have also been given orthodics which help a little. I have been told that acupuncture can help.Is this true and does it just releive the problem for a short time? Is there a full cure?
