We are shopping for new living room furniture, and I'm interested in buying leather. My question is.... if you have leather sofas or chairs, do you like them? Some say they are too cold, some say they make you sweat, I just like the look and feel of leather, and want some info from those who've had experience with leather before I make a decision.

Leather is very comfortable to sit on as long as you keep your clothes on.
Leather covered furniture and pets don't go well together. Little claws can leave permanent marks on leather.

I have a leather chair and ottoman (15 yrs) and really like them. I do have cats one has claws but just very minor small marks which wipe away with leather cleaner. Be aware that if your have dogs or cats it is very possible to scratch them. These days it is not to difficult to repair leather tears that are all the way through the leather. I have done so and matched the color perfectly.

I don't have a leather sofa or any leather furniture, but it seems like leather would be easy to take care of and it would always look nice. Be sure to get a good quality leather.
I want a leather chair in my computer room, but I'm not going to settle but anything less than perfection. Since I haven't quite decided what that IS yet, I'm still looking. :)

Thanks for the info.....I don't have any cats, but do have a spoiled rotten dog that rules the roost. She does get to come inside, but never gets on the furniture, so I don't think I'd have to worry about scratches.

Hi Necee -
I bought a leather sofa for my family room about three years ago. It's neither too cold nor too warm and it's extremely comfy for sprawling about on (or for being a Sofa Girl). It cleans easily too. I bought it because I wanted something that would take use well and it has. And I did't spend a huge amount of money on it either. These days many affordable leather sofas are affordable because only the actual touching part is leather - that is the seat, back, arms, etc. And for us and our family room it's been quite nice.
Re: your mattress - I bought the same one at Sears about three years ago. I don't like pillow-tops but other than that it's been just fine.

Going out to look at some leather sofas today Judy. I am sofa guy during football & baseball season. One of my cats loves the leather ottoman and she sleeps on it every night. Never has scratched it.

Good luck, Necee! We don't have any leather furniture, but I would imagine it to be lovely and to last well.
Growing up we had this (hideous) dark green plastic couch. I well remember how your legs would stick to it in the summer (no air conditioning) when you were wearing shorts. I am sure leather is a wonderful improvement on that!
Come to think of it, our couch is sure getting worn out; it seems we sink further all the time when we sit down. But daughter #2 will probably be out of college before we shop for another. Oh, well...I don't sit down much anyway! :)
