orthoticsPosted by bethl on 3/16/05 at 09:48 (171297)
I have shin splints.
The physiotherapist says to have my orthotics checked. ( They are 11 years old)
My legs feel better with no orthotics.
My present orthotics are fiberglass and reach just beuyond the arch.
The physiotherapist offers full shoe orthotics made of leather.
Which type are better?

If your legs feel better without them, don't use them. There could be quite a bit of wear and tear after 11 years. Also, the foot could have changed as well. If you eventually do get shin splints again, do have more made. I do like full lenght orthotics, but I am not crazy about leather. I do not use leather at all. It is pretty much a personal preference with me though.

Richard: How about using medium EVA with neopreme covering? Also, why do you not prefer full length orthotics? Seem like they wouldn't slip as much as my shorter plastic one do. Thanks,

I did say I like full lenght. I hardly ever make 3/4. I don't know about the neoprene. We know what works from experience, and I guess we just like using the two types of EVA for orthotics.
