My birthday

Posted by Julie on 5/01/05 at 08:57 (174016)

Okay, I'll stop being shy. Two days ago I posted a tiny addendum to a post on another thread reticently mentioning that it was my 70th birthday. Dr Z and Suzanne noticed it, and I thank them kindly for their good wishes. But I really want everyone to know that I was 70 on Friday 29 April.

I'm having trouble believing it - maybe you can help me!

Happy Birthday!! I hope you enjoyed your day. I turned 41 last month, and I'm having trouble believing it.

Best Wishes on your recent birthday, Julie, and many more to come. You are probably (no, definately) in better shape at 70 than I am at 50!

Julie, CONGRATULATIONS! I can hardly believe it either. My best wishes to you, as well.

You're welcome, Julie, and I am happy for all your good wishes. You are quite well-thought-of here and have certainly earned that respect.

Would that we all could be as wise and fit when we reach 70!
Suzanne :)

Thank you very much, everyone. I'm beginning to get used to the idea. Last night I asked my husband if he thought I was grown up now, and he said 'No'. That was nice.

Thanks again. I really appreciated all your messages.

Julie,

A belated happy birthday to one of the wisest people whom I've had the honor of knowing, if only via the internet! Seventy years young; that's how I would describe you!

Oh gosh, Kathy, what a sweet thing to say. Thank you!

Now I feel I almost deserve the nickname Nancy gave me several years ago - The Wise Old (emphasis on 'Old') Woman of the Board'. WOW for short. I liked that!

A couple of hours ago my husband demanded to see my birth certificate. He says he needs proof. He really is lovely. And I am more lucky than wise.

Thanks again.

Happy Belated Birthday to you Julie!

May the years that lie ahead be happy and healthy ones.

I've always enjoyed reading your posts over the years, I've learned so much from you. May you continue to be blessed in your life, as much as you've been a blessing in mine.

Thanks, Richard. I'll do as you suggest - if I can find a crumpet.
Take care :)

Thanks, Elliott! I'll do my best. I wouldn't mind another 20 - as long as I can stay healthy and reasonably alert.

20 is too modest. You should live to 120. That's another 50 years on heelspurs!

Julie: Happy birthday. They do pick up speed the older we get. At the moment I am moving at the speed of light.

I was reading a little about your way of political campaigns in Great Britain. I sort of like them. Each candidate is allowed a certain amount of equal time on TV and I believe is paid for by the people. Each candidate can spend $38 million dollars and no more so there is no need to have the big private donors who expect something in return. This was for Prime Minister and it did not say how far down the chain of elected officials it went.

Julie on 5/03/05 at 09:51 (174168)

Thank you, John. We are the same age, as I recall. When is yours?

At the speed of light (which is my speed too) I should get through those 50 years Elliott wished on me very quickly.

Yes, the financial restrictions on political campaigning here lead to a fairer campaign than is the case in the States. Whether we get a more honest or more relevant-to-the-real-issues campaign is another question.

So what else is new?

Julie, I haven't been on the board - I'm very sorry I missed your birthday...

Happy Birthday!

Thank you Wendy! Don't be sorry - it's so nice to have a Happy Birthday now!

I'm still trying to get used to the idea. I hope all is well with you - it seems a good while since you've been heard from.
