cause of position of foot

Posted by judith on 5/06/05 at 17:28 (174409)

What would cause the feet to become ridged or 'frozen' in the position with the toes pointed down, the foot cannot bend to it's normal position being flat on the bottom?

I'm not a doctor and I'm sure you'll get a response from one of them, but meanwhile your description sounds like 'foot drop', or 'drop foot', which can have a variety of causes. A common cause is pressure on the peroneal nerve, a branch of the sciatic nerve. Have you had your spine checked out?

I am not a doctor, but since you have not yet received a response from one, I would say that if this condition is still a problem, if it were me, I would seek medical attention right away. You don't want this to get any worse, especially if it might involve nerves.
