Can I take Medrol for neck pain after ESWT for foot?

Posted by Lila on 5/09/05 at 10:16 (174565)

I just had Ossatron ESWT on my left heel this Wednesday (five days ago). My primary Dr today prescribed a Medrol dosepack for some persistent neck pain since I can't take NSAIDs after the ESWT. I'm also taking skelaxin and tylenol, with darvocet only when really necessary.

Is the Medrol OK after ESWT, or could that also hinder the ESWT healing process since it is an antiinflammatory steroid? I waited so long to get the ESWT approved, so I don't want to mess that up, but ouch my neck hurts too... (I'm only 36 but you'd think right now I was a hundred years old with all these aches and pains!)

Thanks,
Lila

Lila:
Unfortunately, the current thinking is that Medrol may act against the curative effects of ESWT.

I appreciate your help. I'll call my primary back and see what else we can do.

Thanks,
