I have had a recurring calf problem for several years now. I am experiencing pain between my achilles tendon and my calf. It usually occurs soon after I have been running when I attempt to stretch my calves or when I just squat down. My calf feels like it is tearing and I get a popping feeling in the area almost like a cracking knuckle. I have never had any bruising and it has not affected my ability to walk. I am afraid that if I continue to exercise I could severely strain the area. Do you have any idea what muscle or tendon is causing my pain and what I should do about it?
