Heel pain

Posted by Carol M. on 6/08/05 at 10:41 (176323)

I have had heel pain going on now since Sept '04. I have finally had some x-rays and the show heel spurs. I work for a doc and he is sending me to a podiatrist because he feels that maybe I need a cortisone injection. He does think that I do have plantars fasciatis. My question is: Do I really need that injection?? I understand that is quite painful.
Thank You for any input.

Your doctor is best to know this. However, there's a very high risk of complications with the cortisone shots. Your chances of a plantar fascia rupture is much greater.

Many people that I've read about only get benefits from cortisone injenction for a short time. To me, the risk isn't worth it but it may be for you.
