Ruling out Plantar Fascia Rupture

Posted by John S. on 6/23/05 at 22:37 (177267)

How can one differentiate a Plantar Fascial Rupture from fascitis? I think I may have either severe fascitis or a possible rupture. I have no pain on dorsiflexion of toes. This is 10d post injury and Im still tender. But, only treatment thusfar is limited activity. Thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention that the day after the injury, I noticed bruising on the medial aspect of the plantar surface. More toward the posterior portion of the arch, just in front of the calcaneous. Swelling and bruising in that area has gone down, but 10d later it is exquisitly tender in that area as well as moderately tender in the heel upon heel strike.
