Heel Spur

Posted by nathan.shuff@dfas.mil on 7/13/05 at 16:42 (178340)

I'm nearly 50 years old and started lifting weights again at age 47. My leg press weight is 700lbs plus and I machine squat nearly 400 lbs. Now, I have developed a bone spur or heel pain in my left foot. Is this from lifting heavy weights and not stretching properly? I also sleep at night with my legs crossed at the ankles. I suppose this sleeping pattern puts pressure on my achilles tendon. I'm slightly overweight (most top heavy) from lifting weights these past two years. I've just started taking 800 mgs of Ibuprofen and Naprosen which seems to help but my heel hurts alot every morning and now I've gone to shoe inserts that help alot. What else can I do?

I think you are confused about this condition, read ' the book ' on this site, rest, change shoes, ice and stretching...
