tarsal tunnel

Posted by jan s. on 7/20/05 at 22:20 (178752)

I have been suffering from pain in my left foot for 6 years. The pain is on the OUTER side only and also can travel to the outer side of my calf if I am on my feet for a long time. Could this be tarsal tunnel, or is that only on the arch side of the foot?

jan:
Consider getting an NCV (nerve conduction velocity) test to rule out or rule in tarsal tunnel sydrome.

excellent suggestion Ed, but not always conclusive either. My test did not rule in or rule out the TTS, either! But, agree, definitely worth a try and be sure you go to a competent neurologist who makes the test as PAINLESS as possible-it need not be painful, perhaps uncomfortable. Best of luck on getting a dx. Suzy
