new treatmentPosted by Dr. Drezner on 7/25/05 at 08:33 (179024)
My name is Dr. Jess R. Drezner. I am a board certified podiatrist who is now offering a new treatment for plantar fasciitis or heel spur pain. It is called CRYOTHERAPY. This therapy allows me to freeze the medial plantar calcaneal nerve, thereby blocking the pain sensation. This is an in-office procedure which is performed under local anesthesia and takes about 10 minutes. You are off of your foot for one day. Following that, you are allowed to perform your normal, non-impacting, daily activities. Return to full activities usually takes about 2 weeks.
I have removed heel spurs for 15 years, then performed endoscopic plantar fasciotomies for the past 11 years. I have done a few shock wave treatments in the last 3 years but CRYOTHERAPY seems to be the most effective treatment thus far.
