You know, 3 years ago or so, the same thing happened to me. Except I didn't "hear" a pop. I stretched my feet and legs out under the desk and stretched and all of a sudden I couldn't walk! Then, I loosened my tennis shoes and was able to walk. Some time after that I couldn't walk at all, but I attribute the torn fascia to probably being at that moment. It kept happening to me. It was terrible. I didn't know what was happening to me, finally I got a diagnosis of pf. I couldn't walk at all, crawling on my knees to the bathroom etc. Found this site, read what people were doing and now I am much much much better. I can walk limitedly (I ride my bike everywhere, it's my means of transportation, so I really don't walk anywhere.) My experience with all doctors has been terrible. Hate orthotics from the docs. I find the combo I'm doing now (glucosamine/chondroitin, foot massager, foot exercises flat foot inserts) is helping me. Still have bad days though. Also when the weather is cold it's still pretty horrible for me. However, I feel it's pretty miraculous when there's a day and I don't feel pain. Maybe one day I'll be totally better, or there'll be a scientist that wants to find a cure for us.
