For those people who are active, running, walking or on their feet all day an ounce of prevention,... As mentioned elsewhere being the correct weight, discarding old worn out shoes and avoiding repetitive exercise on non-yielding surfaces(concrete, asphalt,...)will help avoid the PF condition altogether. If you do exercise a lot make sure that you have good arch support either from your shoes (a frim counter, a stiff last)or an insert. To prevent PF you must raise the arch and prevent rolling of the midfoot with each stride. If the insert is soft and cushioning it will feel nice but it probably will not give you the support you need.
