Where do you buy night splints?

I have had PF now for 6 months--both feet. I went to my HMO and he told me there wasn't much he could do for me because I had nerve involvement with my PF--he did not think surgery would be a good idea (that's fine with me) Orthotics don't help--I've tried 2 custom and the Spencos. Stretching hasn't helped.

I want to try night splints. Do you have to have a perscription and go to and orthopedic store? There appear to be several different kinds of night splints as well as homemade ones.

I thought I read a post a while back that they can make your achilles tendons hurt. Has this happened to anyone?

If anyone can tell me where to go to get the nights splints I would appreciate it. I live in LA, but just a general answer of the type of place to go and what to look for would help.
