I've talked about lumps in my past postings. Have you ever had a scar or knew someone who had a scar? Did you notice how the scar tissue builds up? The same happens with PF. The tendon/ligament (call it what you want), tears away from your heal bone or at another point in the arch. The body tries to repair it with scar tissue. With PF, we continue to tear the area by walking/weight bearing. Our bodies continue to build scar tissue. That is the lump you are mentioning. Fortunately for me, I caught it in time. I continuely massage the area and break up the scar tissue. I can't imagine those who go for years without breaking up the scar tissue. I would assume they have a large lump on the bottom of their foot. The lump I had started out the size of a pea and was very hard throughout my arch. Now I can't notice any lump and I have approximately 95% flexibility back in my right foot compared to 70% when I first go injured.
