"Endoscopic"surgery: I have no choice.

I do not have enough "sick time" at my job to get the "regular" surgery!!! My Podiatrist says that he absolutely does not recommend the "Endoscopic" surgery, because it only works with 50% of the people who get it!!!
He also says that the recovery time for the regular surgery is two to six months, and has seen it take up to nine months.
My employer is not gonna want to hear that.
I have had this great paying job for almost 10 years. I am a single mom and I can't afford to loose my job.
Does anyone have any advice?
