Hi, Roz. Thanks for the message. I wish I could say it helps to know others are in the same boat, but honestly, it just makes me feel terrible to think anyone else is having this much pain and disability! And, at 36, its just ridiculous! I got this at 42 (I'm 44 now), but I was really active, powerwalking every day for 45 minutes, weight lifting 3 days a week, scuba diving whenever I could. And, how I got this was a 5 day cross-country ski trip; I'd never been sking before, and I guess my feet just weren't built for that type of streee (I'd been a runner for years with no problems).

How did you get this? I really wish I'd known about the condition before I got it, because I just ignored the pain and kept active until I was completely shut down by my feet! What an idiot.

Is your fat pad loss caused by the cortisone injs? Is there anything they can do for you?

I will let you know how the appmt. with Dr. Barrett goes on Mon. I am really afraid to get my hopes up for a cure. And, the surgery scares me to death. The only thing is, I don't have much to lose. I think you will relate to the fact that I have seriously wished for amputation at times; I could get some good prosthesis and be pain free and more active than I am now.

How long have you had the extreme touch sensitivity? I don't really have that; my feet hurt all over, all the time, but ironically, if I press on them, its not excruciating! Is there a cure or remedy for the condition you named?

Keep me posted. Here's to a better '98 for both of us, and all the rest of our compadres!
