Shoes

Maybe it's because women's shoes, like everything else made for women (bicycles, to name another) are made of cheaper materials, fall apart faster, don't take any wear-and-tear. I've been an avid runner for 16 years, and I never wear "female" shoes. (This is my second bout with PF, not too bad for 16 years). I think the shoe industry doesn't take women athletes seriously. I recall that women have a higher threshhold of pain, supposedly, so either women do experience PF more frequently, or they look for information on it on the Internet more frequently.
Actual data on the frequency of PF in men versus women would have to come from podiatrists to be valid, but it would be interesting.
